Biography
Dr. Sun Jung Kim is a professor in the Department of Life Science at Dongguk University, South Korea. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from KAIST, Korea, in 1991 and completed postdoctoral training at the NIH, USA. Joining Dongguk University's faculty in 2000, he has since focused his research on the epigenetics of breast cancer. Currently, he is expanding his career in cancer epigenetics by integrating it with cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) technology. As part of his groundbreaking work in plasma medicine, Dr. Kim has identified cancer marker genes and noncoding RNAs whose CpG methylation or histone modification is influenced by plasma in breast cancer cells. Recently, his research team discovered that CAP could enhance drug sensitivity in drug-resistant cancer cells, offering new hope for overcoming drug resistance beyond the primary cancer's demise. At the conference, Dr. Kim will present their findings on the modulation of the noncoding RNAs during the induction of apoptosis in cancer cells by CAP
